icon of “The Unsleeping Eye (Nedremannoe Oko).” It depicts Christ Emmanuel reclining
on a bed, flanked by the Mother of God and the Archangel Michael. The flying
angel of the Seraphim rank appears in the upper range, hovering over the entire
scene. “The Unsleeping Eye” doesn’t depict any specific action or subject. It
is rather a reminder of the All-Protective Vigilance of the Son of God.
