Russian Icon of Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh
19th-century Russian
icon of Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh, the first bishop of Voronezh, who was
considered a miracle worker. Saint Mitrophan died in 1703 and was buried in
the Annunciation Monastery in Voronezh. 14 years later, when the tomb
was opened, his body was found incorrupt. Saint Mitrophan’s relics were
proclaimed to have healing powers. Today, they are carefully kept in the
Annunciation Cathedral in Voronezh.
