18th-Century Icon of Our Lady of Kazan
18th-century
icon of Our Lady of Kazan from the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Saratov,
Russia. It is one of the oldest copies of the famous miracle-working icon that was
brought to Russia from Constantinople in the 13th century. The original
icon was unfortunately lost under mysterious circumstances at the beginning of
the 20th century, but its copies can be found in many churches and cathedrals all
over the Orthodox Christian world.
