Icon of John the Warrior, painted at the beginning of the 19th century. John the Warrior is a saint martyr who lived in the 4th century. He is regarded as a helper in poverty and sorrow, and his relics are considered miracle-working. In the icons, John the Warrior is depicted wearing scale armor and a cape, often with a spear, a shield, and a cross in his hands. This beautiful example is currently in the Museum of Palekh Art in Palekh, Russia.
