18th-Century Icon “The Resurrection – The Harrowing of Hades”

18th-century icon “The Resurrection – The Harrowing of Hades,” with Church Feasts and the Holy Trinity in 16 border scenes. This exquisite artwork, with its extravagant paintwork and decorative spirit, clearly indicates that it is one of the great examples of Yaroslavl iconography. The icon is distinguished by the depiction of Christ, who is shown frontally, wearing a tunic and a broad himation, with arms spread bearing a standard, which is not very common for Orthodox icons of this type.
