Antique Russian icon of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple, also known as the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was painted in the 16th century. The icon celebrates the feast associated with an event described in the Gospel of James. The central composition depicts Saints Joachim and Anna presenting the Child Mary in the Temple, the high priest Zachariah welcoming Mary to her new home, and the daughters of Zion painted on the left of the scene.
