of Saint Anthony the Great, also known as Saint Anthony of Egypt, by the
unknown master. Saint Anthony was a Christian monk who lived in the 3rd-4th
century in Egypt. Often called the Father of All Monks, he is considered the
founder of hermit monasticism in Christianity. His feast day is celebrated by the
Catholic and Orthodox churches on January 17, Julian calendar (January 30,
Gregorian calendar).
